Wireshark은 가장 유명한 freeware 패킷 분석 프로그램이다. 설치되어 있는 Wireshark나 Ethereal의 버전은 다음과 같은 다중 취약점이 존재한다. - USB, sFlow, EIGRP, 3GPP2 A11, SCTP, ICMPv6, iSCSI, WTP, RTCP 해석기에 에러가 존재하여 어플리케이션이 무한루프에 빠져 서비스 거부 공격을 받을 수 있다. (Bug 7787, 7789, 7800, 7801, 7802, 7844, 7858, 7869, 7889) - ISAKMP 해석기에 에러가 존재해 조작된 패킷을 통하여 어플리 케이션이 크래쉬 될 수 있다. (Bug 7855) - 다중 pcap-ng 파일을 다룰 때 pcap-ng 호스트 이름과 관련된 에러가 존재해 민감한 정보가 유출될 수 있다.
