Detailed Description The host system's /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf or /etc/snmpd.conf file's permission or owner is unsafe. The snmpd.conf file is a file that stores the settings for running snmp. If the setting of the access of this file is set incorrectly, security of the system may become vulnerable.

* Platforms Affected:
UNIX, Linux
Recommendation Reset permissions of the file lower than 755 as the following
- AIX:
# chmod 755 /etc/snmpd.conf
- Other systems:
# chmod 755 /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

if the owner of the file is not root, change the owner
- AIX:
# chown root /etc/snmpd.conf
- Other systems:
# chown root /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf
