| Detailed Description |
The phpMyAdmin software is vulnerable to a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the index.php script. phpMyAdmin is a tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the WWW. Currently it can create and drop databases, create/drop/alter tables, delete/edit/add fields, execute any SQL statement, manage keys on fields. phpMyAdmin prior to 2.6.2-rc1 are vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input passed to the 'convcharset' parameter of the 'index.php' script. This vulnerability could permit a remote attacker to create a malicious URI link that includes hostile HTML and script code. If this link were to be followed, the hostile code may be rendered in the web browser of the victim user. This would occur in the security context of the affected web site and may allow for theft of cookie-based authentication credentials or other attacks.
