Detailed Description The hotfix (KB840374) for the 'Vulnerability in Windows XP Help and Support Center' has not been applied.
Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by improper validation of Help and Support Center (HCP) URLs. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a malicious hcp:// URL that could potentially allow remote code execution if a user visited a malicious Web site or viewed a malicious e-mail message. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
