Detailed Description The Hotfix (KB841373) for the 'IIS Redirection Vulnerability' has not been applied.
The vulnerability is a Buffer Overflow Vulnerability, caused by an unchecked buffer in the IIS 4.0 redirect function. Redirection is a process that when a Web browser makes a request for a Web page that does not exist, and the Web server redirects the browser to another page, such as to a generic error page or to the Web site's home page. By creating a specially crafted message and sending the message to the target system, an attacker could cause a code to execute on the target system. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could remotely take complete control of the target system, including installing programs; viewing, changing, or deleting data; or creating new accounts that have full privileges.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
