| Detailed Description |
The Hotfix(KB841533) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in NetDDE' has not been applied. This update resolves the remote code execution vulnerability, caused by improper bounds checking in the Network Dynamic Data Exchange (NetDDE) services that allow communication between applications over a network. By creating a specially crafted message and sending the message to the target system, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and gain complete control of the system or cause a denial of service. A local attacker that logs on to the system could gain elevated privileges on a system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
