Detailed Description The Hotfix(KB841356) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Windows Shell' has not been applied. This security update replaces several prior security bulletins, MS02-014(Q313829), MS03-027(KB821557), MS04-024(KB839645), and resolves the following newly-discovered vulnerabilities:

- Windows Shell ShareName Buffer Overflow Vulnerability(CAN-2004-0214): This buffer overflow vulnerability is caused by improper bounds checking of file names in Windows Shell functions. By creating a file share name containing 300 or more characters, a remote attacker could cause a buffer to overflow and cause Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer to crash, possibly execute arbitrary code on the system.
- Program Group Converter Vulnerability(CAN-2004-0572): This buffer overflow vulnerability is caused by improper bounds checking of file names in Windows Program Group Converter (Grpconv.exe). By creating a specially-crafted file, a remote attacker could overflow the buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the system.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
