Detailed Description The Hotfix(890261) for the 'Vulnerability in PNG Processing' has not been applied. Windows Media Player version 9 and Microsoft MSN Messenger 6.1, 6.2 and Some versions of Windows Messenger for Windows XP are vulnerable to a PNG (Portable Network Graphics) Processing Vulnerability. A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Windows Media Player because it does not properly handle PNG files with excessive width or height values. A remote code execution vulnerability exists also in MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger because it does not properly handle corrupt or malformed PNG files. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to open a malicious PNG file hosted in a Web site or click on a link in an HTML email message. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
