| Detailed Description |
The hotfix (KB894320) for 'Code Execution Vulnerability in Web View' has not been applied. Web View is a program provided by Windows Explorer for viewing file and folder information. Windows Explorer running on Windows 98, Me and 2000 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands. This vulnerability exists in the way that Web View in Windows Explorer handles certain HTML characters in preview fields. By persuading a user to preview a malicious file, an attacker could execute arbitrary code when the targeted user views the file using Windows Explorer in the Web View pane.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
