Detailed Description The hotfix (KB896428) for 'Information Disclosure Vulnerability in Telnet Client' has not been applied. The Telnet client for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Services for UNIX allows remote attackers to read sensitive environment variables via the NEW-ENVIRON option with a SEND ENV_USERVAR command. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could remotely read the session variables of users who have open connections to a malicious telnet server.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
