Detailed Description The hotfix (KB901214) for 'Vulnerability in Microsoft Color Management' has not been applied. The Microsoft Color Management Module is used to allow operating systems to provide consistent color mappings between devices and applications. Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a buffer overflow in the Microsoft Color Management Module. This vulnerability exists in the way that the Microsoft Color Management Module handles ICC profile format tag validation. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a malicious image file that could potentially allow remote code execution if a user visited a malicious Web site or opened a malicious attachment that was provided in an e-mail message. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
