Detailed Description The hotfix (KB899587) for 'Multiple Vulnerabilities in Kerberos' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 and later operating system versions use Kerberos as the default authentication protocol. Kerberos provides secure user authentication. PKINIT is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Internet Draft for "Public Key Cryptography for Initial Authentication in Kerberos". Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are vulnerable to multiple vulnerabilities in the implementations of the Kerberos and the PKINIT protocol as follows:

1) Kerberos Vulnerability (CAN-2005-1981): Denial of Service
2) PKINIT Vulnerability (CAN-2005-1982): Information Disclosure and Spoofing

An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could cause the service responsible for authenticating users in an Active Directory domain to stop responding.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
