Detailed Description |
The hotfix (KB908523) for 'Privilege Elevation Vulnerability in Windows Kernel' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 is vulnerable to a privilege elevation vulnerability, caused by a vulnerability in the method used to process items in the Asynchronous Procedure Call (APC) queue list. A remote attacker with valid logon credentials could exploit this vulnerability to take complete control of the affected system. * Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
