Detailed Description |
The hotfix (KB908519) for 'Vulnerability in Embedded Web Fonts' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in T2EMBED.DLL when handling specially-crafted Embedded Web fonts (or Embedded Open Type fonts). A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by embedding specially-crafted Web fonts on a malicious Web page that could potentially allow remote code execution if a user visited a malicious Web site or opened a specially crafted attachment in e-mail. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
