Detailed Description |
The hotfix (KB917736) for 'Vulnerability in RPC Mutual Authentication' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 could allow a remote attacker to spoof a legitimate RPC service, caused by a spoofing vulnerability in the way that RPC handles mutual authentication over SSL. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to persuade a user to connect to a malicious RPC server which appears to be legitimate.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
