Detailed Description |
The hotfix (KB917537) for 'Vulnerability in IIS using Active Server Pages' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected host, caused due to a buffer overflow vulnerability when processing malformed Active Server Pages (ASP). This vulnerability could be exploited by an attacker who can upload a malicious "ASP" page to execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the web server.
* Note: This check requires an account with administrative privileges which can log into the host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
