Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS06-053, KB920685) for 'Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in Indexing Service' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 are vulnerable to a cross-site scripting attack, caused by a query validation handling flaw in the indexing service. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to inject hostile HTML and web script, potentially resulting in contents spoofing, information exposure, or other attacks in the security context of the affected web site.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
