Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS06-075, 926255) for 'Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in Windows' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 up to SP1 could allow a local attacker to gain escalated privileges, caused due to an error in the Client-Server Run-time Subsystem when processing file manifests. A logged on user could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted file manifest to gain complete control of an affected host.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
