Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-007, KB927802) for 'Vulnerability in Windows Image Acquisition Service' has not been applied. The Windows Acquisition Service in Microsoft Windows XP SP1 and SP2 could allow a local attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges, caused by a buffer overflow vulnerability in the way it starts applications. An authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to elevate his privileges.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
