Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-011, KB926436) for 'Vulnerability in Microsoft OLE Dialog' has not been applied. Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) is a technology that allows applications to create and edit compound documents. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 up to SP1 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system, caused by a vulnerability in the OLE Dialog component. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to open a specially-crafted Rich Text Format (RTF) document that includes an embedded malformed OLE object.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
