Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-020, KB932168) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Microsoft Agent' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 up to SP2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the host, caused by a vulnerability in the Microsoft Agent (agentsvr.exe) service when processing specially crafted URLs passed as arguments to certain methods. By convincing a user with Internet Explorer to view a specially-crafted HTML document (e.g., a web page or an HTML email message or attachment), an attacker could execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
