Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-031, KB935840) for 'Vulnerability in the Windows Schannel Security Package' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 up to SP2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the host, caused by improper validation of server-sent digital signatures in the Secure Channel (Schannel) security package. A remote attacker could execute arbitrary code by creating a specially-crafted Web page and tricking a user into visiting to visit the page.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
