Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-032, KB931213) for 'Information Disclosure Vulnerability in Windows Vista' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows Vista has an information disclosure vulnerability that could allow non-privileged users to access local user information data stores including administrative passwords contained within the registry and local file system. When a user installs Windows Vista or upgrades from Windows XP, account credentials including administrative passwords are stored as hashes in the registry or local file system. This vulnerability could allow a local attacker to have access to user account data that could then be used in an attempt to gain full access to the affected system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
