Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-039, KB926122) for 'Vulnerability in Windows Active Directory' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4 and Server 2003 up to SP2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected host, caused by improper handling of LDAP requests in Windows Active Directory. In addition to this flaw, the Active Directory is also vulnerable to a denial of service attack via a crafted LDAP request. On Windows 2000 an anonymous attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a specially-crafted LDAP request. On Windows 2003 valid credentials are needed to exploit it.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
