Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-041, KB939373) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Microsoft IIS' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows XP Professional up to SP2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected host via multiple requests to .dll followed by arguments such as ~0 through ~9, caused by a buffer overflow vulnerability in the URL parser. By sending a specially-crafted URL request to a Web site running on IIS, a remote attacker could execute arbitrary code on the host or cause the affected Web server to crash.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
