Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-047, 936782) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities in Windows Media Player' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows Media Player could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected host, caused by improper parsing of skin file (WMZ and WMD) headers. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by constructing a skin (WMZ or WMD) file containing a malformed header that could potentially allow remote code execution if a user visits a malicious Web site or opens an e-mail message with malicious content. An attacker who successfully exploited these vulnerabilities could take complete control of an affected system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
