Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-054, 942099) for 'Vulnerability in MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger' has not been applied. Microsoft MSN Messenger 6.2, 7.0, and 7.5, and Live Messenger 8.0 are vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability, caused by improper handling of video conversations in Web Cam and video chat sessions. By convincing a user to accept an incoming Web cam invitation and sending specially-crafted data, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on the affected host.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
