Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-058, KB933729) for 'Denial of Service Vulnerability in RPC' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, Server 2003 up to SP2, and Vista could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, caused by improper handling of packets by the remote procedure call (RPC) service. By sending specially-crafted RPC requests using the NTLMSSP authentication type, a remote attacker could cause the affected system to stop responding and automatically restart.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
