Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-065, KB937894) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Message Queuing' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2 could allow a local attacker to execute arbitrary code on the host, caused by a vulnerability in the Microsoft Message Queuing Service (MSMQ) when it incorrectly validates input strings before passing the strings to a buffer. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by constructing a specially crafted MSMQ message to execute arbitrary code on the affected host with the SYSTEM privileges.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
