Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-066, KB943078) for 'Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in Windows Kernel' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows Vista could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system, caused by improper validation of "legacy reply paths" by the Windows Advanced Local Procedure Call (ALPC) in the Windows kernel. An authenticated user could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges and take complete control of an affected system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
