Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS07-068, 941569 and 944275) for 'Vulnerability in Windows Media File Format' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows Media Format Runtime 7.1, 9, 9.5, 9.5 x64 Edition, 11, and Windows Media Services 9.1 for Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, and Vista are vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability, caused by improper parsing of ASF files. By successfully persuading a user to access a specially-crafted ASF file, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on an vulnerable system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
