Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS08-001, KB941644) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities in Windows TCP/IP' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, and Vista are vulnerable to a remote code execution vulnerability and a denial of service vulnerability, caused by two vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows TCP/IP implementation. By sending specially-crafted IGMPv3 and MLDv2 or ICMP packets to an affected host, a remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary code on the host or to cause the host to stop responding to legitimate requests.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
