Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS08-003, 946538) for 'Denial of Service Vulnerability in Active Directory' has not been applied. A denial of service vulnerability exists in implementations of Active Directory on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003. The vulnerability also exists in implementations of Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) when installed on Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. The vulnerability is due to improper validation of specially-crafted LDAP requests. By sending a specially-crafted LDAP request to a vulnerable system, a remote attacker could cause the system to stop responding and automatically restart.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
