Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS08-008, 947890) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in OLE Automation' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows, Office for Mac and Visual Basic are vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) Automation when handling specially-crafted script requests. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted web page.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
