Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS08-025, KB941693) for 'Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability in Windows Kernel' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, Server 2003 SP1 and SP2, Vista, and Server 2008 could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges, caused by an improper validation of input passed from usermode to the kernel. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges and to take complete control of an affected system.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
