Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS08-027, 951208) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerability in Microsoft Publisher' has not been applied. Microsoft Publisher in Office 2000 and XP SP3, 2003 SP2 and SP3, and 2007 SP1 and earlier could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by an error in the object handler when parsing object header data. By constructing a specially crafted Publisher (.pub) file, a remote attacker could potentially execute arbitrary code if a user visited a Web site or viewed a specially crafted e-mail message. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system.
