Severity 30
Port 139,445
Protocol TCP
Class SMB
Detailed Description The Cumulative Security Update (MS08-048, 951066) for Microsoft Outlook Express and Windows Mail has not been applied. Microsoft Outlook Express is an e-mail and newsgroup client shipped with the Microsoft Windows operating system. Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 SP2 and 6 through SP1, and Windows Mail are vulnerable to an information disclosure vulnerability because the MHTML protocol handler incorrectly interprets MHTML URL redirections that could potentially bypass Internet Explorer domain restrictions when returning MHTML content. By persuading a victim to visit a malicious Web page using Internet Explorer, a remote attacker could exploit the vulnerability to bypass intended access restrictions and read arbitrary files via an mhtml: URI in conjunction with a redirection.

* Note: This check requires an account with administrative privileges which can log into the host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
