Detailed Description |
The Hotfix (MS09-028, 971633) for 'Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities in Microsoft DirectShow' has not been applied. This patch replaces the one that is provided in Microsoft Security Bulletin (MS08-033/951698, MS09-011/961373), which is itself a cumulative update and resolves newly discovered public vulnerability:
It is possible to execute arbitrary code on the remote Windows host using DirectX. The DirectShow component included with the version of Microsoft DirectX installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities that may allow execution of arbitrary code when processing a specially crafted QuickTime media file.
* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
