Detailed Description |
The Hotfix (971657) for 'Workstation Service Memory Corruption Vulnerability' has not been applied. An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in the Windows Workstation Service due to a possible "Double Free" condition occurring in the service. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code with elevated privileges. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. * Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
