Detailed Description |
The Hotfix (973525) for 'ATL COM Initialization Vulnerability' has not been applied. A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the Microsoft ActiveX controls listed in the FAQ section of this vulnerability, which were compiled using the vulnerable Microsoft Active Template Library described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS09-055. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability in these controls by constructing a specially crafted Web page. When a user views the Web page, the vulnerability could allow remote code execution. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged on user.
* Note: This check requires an account with administrative privileges which can log into the host to scan. Absence of this condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
