Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS10-001, 972270) for 'Vulnerability in the Embedded OpenType Font Engine Could Allow Remote Code Execution' has not been applied. A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the way that the Microsoft Windows Embedded OpenType (EOT) Font Engine decompresses specially crafted EOT fonts. If a user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.
* Note: This check requires an account with administrative privileges which can log into the host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
