Detailed Description |
The hotfix (MS10-038, 2027452) for 'Vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office Excel Could Allow Remote Code Execution ' has not been applied. This security update resolves fourteen privately reported vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office. The more severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Excel file. An attacker who successfully exploited any of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the local user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights. The update addresses the vulnerabilities by changing the way that Microsoft Office Excel parses specially crafted Excel files and by correcting the way that the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac installs.
* Note: This check requires an account with administrative privileges which can log into the host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
