Detailed Description The hotfix (MS06-078, 923689) for 'Vulnerability in Windows Media Format' has not been applied. Microsoft Windows Media Player is vulnerable to multiple buffer overflow vulnerabilities, caused by improper handling of Advanced Systems Format (.ASF) files and Advanced Stream Redirector (.ASX) files. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by constructing a specially crafted Windows Media Player content or a specially crafted ASX file that could potentially allow remote code execution if a user visits a malicious Web site or opens an e-mail message with malicious content. An attacker who successfully exploited these vulnerabilities could take complete control of an affected system.

* Note: This check requires an account with Guest or upper privileges which can access the registry of the remote host to scan. Absence of these condition will result in the check not being performed and a False Negative for all vulnerable hosts.
